It's always so exciting working with a new person. This time (after many many months of waiting) I finally got around to shooting with the one and only Ben Ellis! Here's how the day went...

Ben is known for his vintage editing style. It reminds me very much of the look of Kodak Gold film; that warm, slightly faded look. And the whole feel of his photography is very intimate and personal. Capturing moments that feel like the in-between shots rather than necessarily the 'typical' poses.

The Gallery

The Day

For anyone interested in what a shoot with Ben is like - it's a day of laughter, creativity, and overly friendly pigeons! It started off with being collected from the train station in Perth, before dropping off my bags and getting some much needed caffeine. This was the moment I also got to meet his other passion - the birds! His pigeons are honestly the most friendly I have ever met! Before we actually got on with the shoot, we drank said caffeine and got to know each other some more like mostly normal human beings. Not just memes through Instagram! As well as talked through the general jist of what to expect from the shoot.

After getting changed into my first outfit, Ben popped some music on and we started shooting (His music taste is banging, I don't care what he says). The first lot of photos were done in the bedroom where there were a variety of different options including by the window and the mirror. After I changed into my second outfit, we headed to the kitchen to continue the shoot. Finally, I contributed to Ben's wee mini 'blanket series'. I think it was actually the first time I've done any implied nude?

The shoot had a very relaxed atmosphere, and didn't feel rushed at all! Once redressed in normal clothes, we just chatted again until I needed to catch my train. One I might have nearly missed if we kept yapping on!

Quick Review

And since Ben asked for a wee review for his own socials anyways... I may as well share it here too!

Ben is honestly such a lovely person and makes you feel so at ease throughout the whole shoot! All the photos feel so natural, and he has really managed to capture me as a person rather than just a model. Simply put - it's like that 'you can tell when a designer loves women' trend - but in photography form! Can't wait to do a shoot with him again! (Plus the birbs!)

Let me know what you think. Hopefully, I will be able to shoot with Ben again soon in the future!
